DETAIL

Myrrh (balsam) is a shrub about 2m tall with a dark green trunk covered with scaly bark and thorns.

It has a woody, smoky scent with a sweetness similar to musk.

［ Characteristics of the plant ］
The gum resin used in the essential oil is obtained from the sap that flows naturally from the cuts in the trunks and branches. It is then dried into irregular, slightly translucent pieces of various colors, from tan to orange. Myrrh was used as incense in censers by the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans and Christians. It was also used to embalm corpses and in mummification.
