Native to Australia and New Caledonia, the Niaouli is an evergreen tree that usually grows to between 4 and 12 metres, but can reach 25 metres.

［ Characteristics of the plant ］
It has long, slender leaves with a strong fragrance and long, pointed yellow flowers. The Kanak people of New Caledonia, who knew the efficacy of niaouli, used it for the walls and roofs of buildings, and wrapped newborn babies in the bark to protect them and give them the strength to live. They also used an ointment made from young leaves on wounds to speed up the healing process.
